I decided to do a little ‘better things’ series, and for weeks I’ve been planning a podcast series to go along with the posts. But, here we are with no audio recorded, and I just figured I wouldn’t let perfect be the enemy of good. I hope this series gives you a chance to pause and ponder.

Our artisan, fair-trade tea towels are back. My contact at the fair-trade co-op has told me how much my orders have meant to the Guatemalan women who weave the towels. Hi there!
I am so thankful for your support, and thought I’d pop in so you can see me 😅. Also, read to the end for a little surprise!
I’m Elayne. I opened this shop 4 summers ago with a baby on my lap. Since then we’ve added another little boy, and I’ve been able to move from teaching high school math to teaching my boys.
My goal for this shop is to offer beautiful, high quality products that help your family call to mind the Sacred in the midst of the ordinary. It’s a great joy to receive your messages of excitement and gratitude that something I’ve created is helping your family.
And I’ll leave you with a few quick facts about me: 1) I studied Civil Engineering, Spanish, and later Education at the University of Dayton; 2) I drink decaf iced coffee all day, year-round; 3) My favorite sound is water - waterfalls, streams, rain, etc!

My son loves his # saintgoals tees (he gets the not-perfect ones, so he has one in every size 😉😅). As we decorated his room after our move, I wanted some decor that wasn't a print. We have lots of lovely prints, but I was looking for a different texture. When I found these banners, I knew it was perfect - our beloved # saintgoals designs in a new format.
And then I tried to print them and almost gave up 😬😅
Canvas is *so* hard to print on, and I ruined so many banners. Back to the drawing board, I made some changes and now have a method that I'm happy with!
I love thinking of these in kids' rooms, but I also have seen plenty ordered for offices, youth group rooms, college dorms, and more! Love all the creativity!

Journals are here and they are so lovely. They make a perfect prayer journal, bullet journal, or keepsake journal. I decided to have dot-grid pages inside to allow for drawing, writing, or any other use.
I also hand-lettered a word or phrase in each quote - a new one on each set of pages! I love the idea of meditating on a quote as you plan your day or journal your thoughts.
I’m extending the bundle, so each journal comes with an adhesive pocket (stick it in this journal or wherever you’ll use it!) and a sticker or magnet (designer’s choice ❤️)

We love the idea of giving kids a fun, engaging gift that also helps them grow in faith.

As I mentioned in my last post, I recently read A Song for Nagasaki, about Takashi Nagai. This Servant of God had so many reasons to be bitter and to resent certain groups of people. Yet he called for peace, worked tirelessly even as his body fought radiation poisoning, and called us all to love more deeply.

This book talks frankly about the horrors of the A-bomb dropped on Nagasaki, and was a challenging read. But I’m so glad to have learned more about this peacemaker.

Recently, I had a minor health issue that is typically caused by stress. Although I didn't feel stressed, I decided that the best way to heal my body was to rest.

I'm not a natural at resting. I love working, creating, making, learning, doing. But my body called for rest.

I sat. I read (A Song for Nagasaki, which is incredible and I'll share more on that later). I took naps. I took slow walks. I gave my body rest.

I want to remind you that rest is important. From rest, you find the space to care for yourself, but also for others. When your day is not filled with have-to-dos, true priorities find your attention. Only if you rest.

This has been a challenging lesson. But I'm so thankful I'm giving more attention to rest.
