I’m putting on a free retreat for you! We’re busy moms, so this online retreat is 5 minutes for 5 days. That’s it. Our goal is to pray, relax, and plan together. The videos and worksheets for each day walk through taking stock of your current life, daydreaming about an ideal day, and then making a plan to move closer to ideal.

These are ideas I discuss in my book, Fiat Ordo, but I wanted to make this retreat 100% doable and accessible.

My journal is where I keep track of books I’d like to read, projects I’d like to complete, quotes I’d like to hand-letter. Its pages are full of my hopes and dreams (my boring to-do lists have a home in my planner).

I’ve been thinking a lot about humility lately. Specifically intellectual humility to admit that we don’t know everything. Science is great, but we do learn more over time and current ‘facts’ may end up changing. Political ties may change with time and experience. Growth is good, but painful. Do I allow myself to grow? Or do I dig in when I should let go?

The past year or so I have learned so much about being a citizen of the USA. I took much about our country for granted - things like a peaceful transition of power, and rights for all, that we now so clearly see are not guaranteed.
1) Some resources I find enlightening: @smarthernews, pillarcatholic.com, books by Ben Sasse and Ross Douthat, @patricia_a_taylor, @mockingbirdhistorylessons
2) I need it sometimes, and maybe you do too - a dose of humility to admit that I think one way and it’s ok for someone else to think differently. And we can both be faithful Catholics.
3) I have a lot of thoughts on how I can improve moving forward, but to start I know I need to pray.

Merry Christmas!
We're celebrating big in little ways over here, complete with Christmas cookies, homemade gifts, and lots of hot cocoa. None of it is perfect, but all of it is focused on spending time with our little family. I plan to open up the shop next week, and get to work on restocking. But until then - Rejoice! Christ the Savior is Born!!!
