September’s letter for The Wanderlust Catholic was a fun pilgrimage to Akita, Japan!
I used to work for a Japanese-owned company, and I love so much about Japanese culture. The chopsticks you see here were a wedding gift from one of my friends at that company ❤️
I was so excited to include a coloring page of the wooden statue at the convent, drawn by @kaitlin.hess.art - who is also learning to screen print to help me keep my shop better stocked!

I missed #fridayintroductions, so here I am on a Saturday ❤
I'm Elayne, owner and creator behind Annunciation Designs. I'm 4 years into this creative venture, and it's now my only 'job,' after working in engineering and then teaching math for 7 years. I spend most of my time with my 2 sweet boys and wonderful husband.
This year, my shop has given me the chance to support so many small businesses, including:
* Guatemalan weavers
* 2 Midwest print shops
* 2 local homeschool families (I'm so thankful for the help!)
* 2 Catholic mamas who have helped with different aspects of marketing/keeping this ship afloat
* A local Catholic sewist/homeschool mama
* A small eco-packaging shop
* A small pottery business
And I'm sure I'm missing a few. I was catching up with a friend recently, and she asked me how the business was going. My reply was, 'I've been so enjoying that my business can bless other families!' It gives me even more motivation to prayerfully keep this community growing. Speaking of which...thank you for being here ❤ What work do you do? Tell me below!

As my business has grown, I’ve been confronted m

As my business has grown, I’ve been confronted more and more by a need to source ethical products. My tees have always come from a reputable, ethical company, but I wanted to go a step further. I moved away from factory-produced tea towels in favor of towels woven by Guatemalan women in their homes. As I researched ways to bring the Water Reveal Books to life, I had the opportunity to order more ‘traditional’ cardboard books from China. I decided to create fabric books because I know they will be more durable and because I could have them produced by at-home seamstresses right in my own area. My journals will be printed in the US to reduce energy use in shipping and support a small business. I am very aware that these decisions affect the price of my products, and I hope you’ll agree that providing living wages and dignified work is worth paying for.

The final item we’re debuting Monday is our linen-covered Catholic Journal. I’ll be honest, this product has had a twisty road to production. I shelved the project multiple times, but I kept feeling a tug to return to it. I hand-lettered part of every single quote inside - one on each set of pages.
180 dot-grid pages, including an index for my bullet-journalists, a liturgical calendar for my planners, and the loveliest gold foil on the cover and spine.
I made these images to show you this journal because I haven’t received a full version from my printers yet, and still being honest - this product is a huge risk for my business! I would so greatly appreciate your prayers - and also your shares ❤️ - for the success of this product!
